FINALLY! We have an Aquaman we can believe in!

Jason-Momoa-Aquaman

Zack Snyder revealed the image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman on this Twitter account, and ever since, DC and Momoa fans alike have been going off the wall.

What’s really great is that they’ve created a mythology around Aquaman using Momoa’s own cultural background. As Entertainment Weekly states, the actor, who is part native Hawaiian, is bedecked in tribal tattoos. It seems the only part of this Aquaman that references the original are what appear to be blond streaky highlights. .

Momoa has said before that his Aquaman will embody the great gods of Polynesian culture. “A lot of things are very black and white. Aquaman is especially cool because being a Kanaka Maoli—being Hawaiian—our Gods are Kanaloa ad Maui, and the Earth is 71 percent water, so I get to represent that,” he said to The Daily Beast. “And I’m someone who gets to represent all the islanders, not some blond-haired superhero. It’s cool that there’s a brown-skinned superhero.”
